Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty

Effects of skin ageing are very often visible particularly by eyelids. This part of face is functionally very exposed, it is a reason, why wrinkles create here sooner. The skin elasticity disappears early, fat prolapses which cause ugly looking bags under the eyes increase.
When the skin elasticity disappears, begins the skin to loose and the skin excesses appear. Skin excesses cause that the skin overlaps the eyelids to eyelashes and the whole face looks tired and older.

It is not only aesthetic defect but also functional defect causing feeling of tiredness, tearing and pain of eyes and leading to general tiredness.
Blepharoplasty
During the surgery the excessive skin is removed from the eyelids and fatty bags are reduced as needed at the same time. They form soft base for an eye in the eye socket. Final scar in the upper lid is situated in the place of natural line, in which skin is folded when opening, in lower lids it leads right next to the lashes.
It is an outpatient procedure, which is performed under local anaesthesia. As a patient's wish it is possible to perform it under general anaesthesia.
After blepharoplasty
The patient puts first 24-28 hours after the surgery cold compresses above the bandage and keeps a calm regime. The sutures are usually removed 6-7 days after the surgery and then the patient can return to his/her normal life regime. Sport and physical strain is recommended after three weeks after the surgery.
