Skin Resurfacing – Laser noninvasive rejuvenation
Skin Resurfacing or laser invasive rejuvenation removes wrinkles, scars (especially after acne) and rejuvenates and lifts your skin.
What does laser invasive rejuvenation – Skin Resurfacing consist in?
It is a procedure performed through high-powered erbium or CO2 laser in face, only exceptionally on neck or décolletage.
Laser evaporates ultra thin layers of cells from the skin surface (vaporization) and it lifts the connective tissue in deeper layers. Therefore it removes whole upper skin layer, which is completely regenerated and so the rejuvenation effect is caused. The skin looks many years younger and skin quality is improved after the healing process. Further ageing of tissues is significantly slowed down.
Most often we use this method to remove wrinkles around mouth, either as a separate procedure or as completion to facelift (surgical skin lift of face and neck), on lower eyelids or forehead. In this case we use only local anaesthesia (injection like at the dentist or lotion). It is mostly an outpatient procedure. Treatment of a whole face is performed under sedation analgesia (light form of general anaesthesia) and it is recommended to stay at the clinic until the next day.
After laser invasive rejuvenation
The treated area is covered until the next day with special foil of so-called aqua bandage. It is removed the next day and further treatment consists only in application of vaseline and compresses. The healing process takes approximately 2-3 weeks. It is necessary to protect the skin from sun exposure for at least 3 months(one season).
It is true that this procedure is one of the most complicated procedures for the patient during the first days of healing process and also for the surgeon. He/she must have sufficient experience with this type of procedure.
As a reward there is a long lasting effect, same as by other surgical aesthetic surgeries. Laser skin resurfacing has not been fully overcome with any technique yet.
