Laser removal of varicose veins
Endoluminal Surgery of varices with laser
Varicose veins belong to very common disease, which affects nowadays 45-55% of population. Unfortunately unlike naevus flammeus it is not only the cosmetic defect, but it can cause dangerous health complication too.
Varicose veins – removal (treatment)
There are a lot of various methods for varicose veins treatment. These methods used for the treatment can be divided in conservative methods and surgical methods.
Conservative method of varicose veins removal
Conservative treatment uses so-called venous drugs. These are medicaments, that increase tension of venous wall and compression of the veins with the usage of elastic bandages or compression stockings. The treatment avoids further worsening of the veins.
Surgical method – varicose veins surgery
Surgical methods lead to focused removal of changed veins. Surgery of varicose veins belongs to relatively common procedures, however the technique and the way of surgery has changed significantly during last few years. From classic radical methods performed with hospitalization and under general anaesthesia, still more patients switched to so-called CHIVA methods.
CHIVA methods and varicose veins
This method is very popular among the patients. There is no need of hospitalization. During these methods only affected parts of the veins are removed, usually only under local anaesthesia.
Advantages of CHIVA methods:
- Out-patient procedure
- gentle for patients
- good cosmetic effect
Laser removal of varicose veins
Complete novelty among surgeries of varicose veins is so-called endovascular surgery.
This minimally invasive way of treatment consists usually in only a punch through which optical laser fiber is inserted into varicose vein and when pulled out the whole vein is gradually sealed. This method originates in CHIVA methods, although it is very developed mainly in gentleness of the procedure and very significantly even in cosmetic effect.
There are usually no scars and only minimum of blood bruises after the treatment that fade away within a month. This method is an outpatient procedure with minimum post-surgical complications.
